 You know you are on the right track when an inspector chooses your product for his own home. Jerry Caliendo is a Senior Electrical Inspector with the New York Fire Underwriters who made Ultra-Fin his radiant system of choice when he built his 8,000 square foot house in Orange County, New York.
According to Caliendo, two things convinced him to install Ultra-Fin – great reports from others who had already installed the system and excellent product support from the company.
And once he fired it up, he knew he made the right choice.
“I’m very satisfied with the system,” says Caliendo. “It’s a very even heat throughout the house, and there’s no cold spots. It’s very comfortable.”
Caliendo was also impressed by the Ultra-Fin system’s very quick heat response.
“When I fired up the system for the first time, it took the house from about 36 degrees to 58 degrees in 2 hours from a cold start. I pumped it up again, and it went to 68 degrees one hour after that. The boiler hardly ever comes on, and when it does, it’s only for about two or three minutes and that’s it.”
He also likes the product support he has received.
“I see a lot of contractors out in the field with a lot of different products,” says Caliendo. “I’ve never had this kind of help from a manufacturer before.
“With other companies, if you have questions, sometimes they get back to you and sometimes they don’t.”
Ultra-Fin was different.
“They give you that individual attention,” says Caliendo. “They were friendly and helpful, they talked about the system, and then they sent out a video to show how the system was installed. Great technical support.”
Caliendo heard about Ultra-Fin from an Orange County electrical contractor who had installed the system in his own home. His glowing reports convinced Caliendo to investigate further, so he visited his local distributor and was soon buying his fins and tubing.
According to Wayne Addy at T.S.E. Lectric & Plumbing, the simplicity of the Ultra-Fin system is one of its best selling points.
“We work in an industry that is surrounded by technology,” explains Addy. “Ultra-Fin is definitely an easy system to understand.”
He says the system also combines well with existing hydronic systems during retrofits and renovations.
“We use it a lot with retrofits in older homes because it’s easy to integrate with existing baseboard systems,” says Addy.
